Plant cucumbers in warm soil from June through September. It will take about 8 weeks from seed to first harvest and will grow continually until frost.
Transplant basil outdoors any time from June through August and continue to harvest. You can always move this inside once it gets chilly again.
Plant tomatoes in warm soil from June through September. It will take anywhere from 8 – 10 weeks from seed to first harvest. Harvest season varies by variety so keep an eye on these guys!
Plant peppers in warm soil from June to September. It will take about 8 weeks from seed to first harvest and they will continue to grow until 1st frost. These herbs and veggies are all about on the same schedule!
Purple Coneflowers are so low-maintenance, you don’t have to have a green thumb to grow these perennials. They are charming, tough and soak up full sunlight. They will bloom all Summer and into the Fall so you have plenty of time to enjoy!
All you need is full sun and well-drained soil to have Russian Sage in your garden. This vigorous flower adds fragrance and pretty late Summer to early Autumn blooms.
If you’re looking for blooms from late Spring to mid-Fall, Geranium Rozannes are for you! With large violet-blue flowers, these will be the perfect pop of color for your landscape. Rozannes thrive in full sun or partial shade.
Just like an early-bird, Lupine Gallery Mixes love morning sun and afternoon shade. These beauties attract hummingbirds, butterflies and all passers-by.
As the name suggests, the Burning Bush requires moderate water, full sun and ample room to grow. The soil should be slightly acidic to produce a vibrant red color in the Fall.
Lilacs are legendary for prairie toughness and hold up well to drought when given full sun and decently draining soil. Plus, they’re purple…so what more could you want?
If you’re looking for a more “manageable” bush, the Cinquefoil Bush is for you. Blooming from Summer to Fall, the branches of this bush are covered with 1-inch single, yellow flowers.
Never have to run to the store for roses again with a Rose Bush. All they need is full sun, well-drained soil and an area free of competing tree and shrub roots. Protect his bush by covering the plant with loose, loamy, moist soil. Okay, maybe Rose is a little needy, but the blooms are worth it.
Rock gardens are on the rise and we have the perfect little succ’ er to add to it, Hens & Chicks! With only occasional maintenance and upkeep, these grow at a medium rate and can live for up to 20 years; what an investment.
Want to love your succulent all year-around? Stonecrop Sedums are winter hardy and require little care. Just plant in well-drained, average to rich soil with full Colorado sun.
Opposite of needy, Antique Grill Sedums are reliable, hardy and easy-to-grow perennials that prefer full sun with average to poor well-drained soil.
In honor of the excellent basketball season this year, we present the Gold Nugget! An all weather tolerant succulent that can withstand high heat and -30 temps; all they need is full sun! They turn from bright green in the Summer to bright red in the Fall.

More daylight, a few final bluebird ski days, windows rolled down with the heat on…it’s Spring in Denver! We’re all looking forward to some warmer temps and all the fresh air we can get, but before we get to enjoy it too much, we need to check Spring cleaning off our to-do lists. We know, it sounds awful, but with this checklist you might want to spring clean more than once a year! Also, while you’re at it, treat yourself with some new throw pillows, leafy plants or wall art to celebrate National Decor Month.
